Now, with heartfelt thanks to ArtsNB for a Creation Grant, I get to revisit the theme of Earth’s 4.5-billion-years of life and death. I’m still me, and encaustic paint is still my medium, but abstraction and climate change give me new ways to think about ‘deep time’, new ways to express both the wonder of life and the poignant issues of our time.

Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Carboniferous, Permian; Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous.

Cenozoic; that’s us. And now we are threatening our ancient, wondrous planet at lightning speed.
